Cyber criminals stole $600,000 from Dublin Zoo

Ireland's Economic Crime Bureau of its national police force is investigating a cyber attack on Dublin Zoo's computer systems. Unknown hackers managed to get access to zoo's networks and cause considerable damage. The details of the attack haven't been disclosed yet, but it has been reported that for some time cyber criminals redirected payments going to the zoo to their own accounts. As a result, zoo's budget is approximately $600,000 short.

Irish capital's zoo was founded in 1831. At the moment, there are over 400 animals living there, many of which are rare and endangered species. Annually it attracts over 1 million people. Irish financial institutions decided to help the zoo and have already compensated part of the funds stolen by cyber criminals.
